This weeks course is going to discuss why we must bring back self breast exams. Black and Native/Alaskan born women are dying of breast cancer more frequently than white women, even with lower incidence rates. The self exam was discontinued as a medical decision, but I’m laying this down as a medical decision. Black women are dying in medically preventable deaths due to the systemic racism entrenched in American healthcare. We need self exams to be a voice for ourselves before it’s too late. This class will give you the tools to perform a self breast exam, advocate for yourself, and we discuss next steps if you do find a lump.
