TSS – The 1980’s Outbreak

The 1980’s outbreak of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), was a pivotal moment in women’s health care. Prior to the outbreak, there were no federal regulations on women’s sanitary products. Don’t take that to mean the system is doing its job now. Its not. Regulations leave quite a few loopholes that companies are all too happy to exploit. TSS is not as common now as it was in the 1980’s and unfortunately, we have the outbreak to thank for that.
